Divine Ekubor (born 1st May 2001), widely known by his stage name Rema (aka Remy Boy), is a Nigerian singer, rapper and songwriter. He began making music at an early age and was part of a music crew with some of his friends rapping in church and school events. In March 2019, he signed a record deal with Jonzing World / Mavin Records. He quickly captured the Nigerian music market with his smash hit ‘Dumebi’ off his self-titled EP ‘Rema’. He became the first artiste signed to Mavin Records after the multimillion-dollar partnership with Kupanda Holdings.
Early Life
Rema is an 18-year-old Nigerian artiste born on 1st May 2001 in the ancient city of Benin, Edo State to Christian parents. He had his Nursery and Secondary School Education in Benin City. At an early age, he developed an interest in music and started a music group with his fans performing mostly in church and school.
Music Career
Rema started pursuing his interest at an early age of 11 but things got serious for him in 2018. His sound consists of Trap, Afrobeats, Alte genres. He was discovered by Jonzing World CEO, Charles Enebeli better known as D’Prince on Instagram after he made a freestyle to D’Prince tune ‘Gucci Gang’. D’Prince when down to Benin to bring him to Nigeria’s music and entertainment capital Lagos. That same year, he worked with DJ Tunez, Wizkid and Reekado Banks on the single ‘Turn Up’ having added additional vocals to the song.
On the 22nd March 2019 Rema was officially unveiled as a Jonzing World and Mavin Records artiste. His unveiling was done simultaneously with the release of his self-titled 4-track EP.
Barely a week since the release of the ‘Rema’ EP, the project topped charts as the number one selling album in Nigeria. (#1 Album of the week, Song of the week #2 & #7 and more) on the Apple Music charts.
The ‘Dumebi’ crooner had his first official performance at the annual ‘Homecoming’ concert 2019.
Barack Obama added ‘Iron Man’ by Rema to his 2019 summer playlist of 44 songs.

Personal Life
Rema is the first child of his parents and raised in a Christian background. Had his early Nursery and Secondary School education in Benin before moving to Lagos to pursue a career in music. His favourite moment is when he made his first million Naira at age 17.
